Davis, a graduate with a degree in Horticulture from the University of Bishop Stuart in Uganda, completed his internship in the program in the 2018-2019 batch. During his training, he immersed himself in the field of horticulture on a farm in the southern region of Israel.
A highly motivated individual, Davis excelled in our program and graduated with distinction. Upon returning to Uganda, he started his journey of establishing his own dairy farm. Davis maintained close ties with his former lecturers, diligently applying the knowledge he acquired during his time in the program.
Reflecting on his experience in the program, Davis remarked, “It’s a mindset change towards agricultural production.” Currently, he is the proud owner of a thriving dairy farm, supplying local markets. Additionally, he has established a horticultural farm, employing open field cultivation methods to grow crops. A key focus for Davis is providing employment opportunities and sharing his knowledge generously with the community.
Expressing his aspirations, Davis said, “I want to empower more youth into agriculture and promote it in my sector.” He actively imparts his expertise to his community and village, particularly encouraging the youth to pursue careers in agronomy and invest in the agricultural sector.
Closing his narrative, Davis passionately asserts, “Agriculture is life.” He envisions a future where more young individuals invest in agriculture, contributing to food security not only in his country but also across the continent. Davis remains optimistic about the prospect of inspiring the youth to embrace agriculture and play a pivotal role in its growth and development.
