Nidup Zangmo, 26, Bhutan – Our graduate of batch 2022-2023

Nidup, a B.Sc. graduate in Agriculture from the College of Natural Resources of Bhutan, was training in a mushroom farm in the northern part of Israel while her training in the Agrostudies program. 

After finishing her diploma, she joined a Farm Machinery Corporation Limited in Bhutan as Agriculture supervisor for a small commercial farm. “During this journey, Thanks to the government of Israel, and Bhutan and the opportunity from the company I was working in, I was given the chance to travel to Israel for the training through Agrostudies. It was so worth it, as I was exposed to the world’s most advanced technologies in the field of Agriculture. The hands-on training, field visits and above all learning from the most experienced lecturers will always be the greatest achievement for me during this period.”

She shares her experience in Israel and in the program : I felt very warmly welcomed to country. All the staffs and lecturers and also the people in Israel in general were very warm and caring. The campus always felt safe and homely. There were all the facilities one would need. I also loved how the Agrostudies staffs were always there to guide the students”.

Upon returning to Bhutan, Nidup was entrusted with the management of a newly established two-year-old fruit farm, a responsibility she has wholeheartedly hoped to embraced over the past couple of years. Under her diligent supervision, the farm now boasts a diverse array of fruit trees, including avocados, mangoes, and dragon fruits, all thriving under her expert care. As the Farm Manager, I am responsible for overseeing the comprehensive management of these orchards, ensuring optimal growth and productivity”.

Beyond her role in orchard management, Nidup plays a pivotal role in leading and mentoring her team. Her leadership has fostered a collaborative and knowledgeable work environment, enabling the team to work efficiently towards shared goals. Recently, she spearheaded the expansion of their agricultural ventures by establishing a promising tomato plantation. Looking forward, Nidup has ambitious plans to introduce greenhouse cultivation, highlighting her commitment to innovation and excellence in sustainable farming practices.

Nidup states: “ I see Agriculture in different point of view now, as I have seen how big we can get to with Agriculture and the technologies during the 11 months training in Israel”.

Looking ahead, Nidup harbors ambitious aspirations for agriculture, aspiring to make a significant impact and illuminate the potential of agriculture as a viable dream for everyone. Her vision extends beyond the boundaries of her current role, aiming to pioneer transformative initiatives that showcase agriculture’s immense potential on a broader scale. Nidup’s passion for innovation and sustainable practices drives her determination to elevate the perception of agriculture, inspiring others to recognize its capacity for substantial achievement and societal benefit.
